we are we're going to spend about about four or five or six minutes looking at our classroom here so we're going to go to academics going to go to history okay here's our history website you go to stash you can end up seeing all the staff something we set up a few years ago there are links to all kinds of different things they might check it out when you have a chance Jordan go to staff and I here I am mr. Culbertson there's the rest of the staff Summit click on this Phila hope you've already been able to go through and see some of this we're going to look at these videos so we had to in directions to See's course we're going to have this introduction to class that the kids got to see and then now we're going to kind of look at things that you're going to be able to work with so first off the stick look here at the Google classroom and imma go to. To okay so your courses the link that the students click on hears many of you already know this and then there's a feed every day at the feed get a PDF of what we're taking or doing or working on or what we're finishing up kids can actually click on it shows up there are actual live links to start everyday with a little bit of music to kind of pick everybody up and then sometimes you put a little attachment of kids won't take more notes on slides they can do that to you the other day we also to you is at the end of they were sending out an actual chat so we have a chat of what we're all talking about so when the students are actually interacting on a chat and they need to go back and try to have some type of memory what we talked about they can go back to the chat anytime okay this last week we actually worked on looking at all the different ways in which we actually help out each other in class and so the link here was for students to go to our class website and they're supposed to talk about the midterm successes that they can have with their parents or anyone help him school and they were going to go over this are going to go over the equity grading is through the equity grading is the key thing is is you don't get points taken off for missing things are doing something incorrectly you always have a chance to go back and work on what you want to get more points for so if you want to earn that a you can earn that a there's also a dialogue they were supposed to talk to you guys about also here are the 22 different ways that many of the students have utilized how to communicate with each other so some like use their mic and camera some don't some like to use the chat these are all the different ways that students can get help okay we've been utilizing peardeck and nearpod and kids have been doing pretty well so my check out the blog when you have a chance you can also throw comments out on the Block we're also looking for kids who want you end up being ambassadors for the class if you go here this is where the eighth grade courses the course is actually called history and geography growth and conflict and there are many different topics so far didn't have focused on different topics we've kind of got back a little bit to fifth grade but this is where kids have kind of spent some time and is called watching the shark this is kind of our anchor standard and so this thing cursed discusses ideas of civic virtue Christian ethics Republican virtue things that are sort of the basis of starting America and we we actually go through this art history and they watch Titus coupon at this weekend they get to figure out what does all this mean inside the painting and so we call this the way back because when we go back and look at these pieces of primary sources to get to go back in time and we've been spending lots of time on the pear deck digging out how to become a historian and in this case just as last week with the triangular slave trade they looked at different things on the web and we took notes and then we discuss them and here's another short video we're trying to chunk the class up best we can in the 31 or 32 days that we're taking this semester course this is the video they watched the other day of Titus kaspar it was very interesting and the kids liked it and helps us to discuss some of the tough topics that we teaching this class okay sound to go back up here when you get a chance you actually might have the students shoyu peardeck if you can okay so back in the courses so I actually thought all kinds of courses all the way up to high school and University level so I have different things here but the one you want to focus on here it's great course the other thing that's important that the kids have also looked at is this historical thinking here so that the skills historical thinking when you come here we call this our toolbox actually until they were supposed to show it to you the other day but this historical toolbox is something it's really helpful to them and they actually showed you a flyer up there historical telescope and I hope that they show that to you and if you have questions you can get back to me we started talking about is this chart the charts actually quite interesting because one of them as historians as we gather evidence as we figure out what questions to ask some of the students have already hopefully talk to you about the story and I working on their snapshot autobiography but the kids are starting to learn how we as a story ends ask all kinds of questions so this is kind of an introductory about the website I hope it's been helpful and informative and I hope you guys are able to sense of Thai remember you can always email me or send a message and there's office hours and we've been doing pretty well this year I think all the kids are doing as best they could do under the circumstances okay ready so you take care
